The Filloa de Lestedo Festival will be present throughout Spain through the sale of 5 million ONCE lottery tickets

The Filloa de Lestedo Festival (Boqueixón-A Coruña), declared of National Tourist Interest in 2024, will be present throughout Spain through the sale of 5 million ONCE lottery tickets on Monday 23 February. The event will celebrate its big day this Sunday, 22 February, in what will be its 43rd edition, although the programme began last Friday with different types of cultural and gastronomic activities.

The presentation of the lottery ticket took place this morning at the Boqueixón Town Hall and was attended by the mayor, Ovidio Rodeiro; the president of the Asociación da Filloa de Lestedo, Juan Silva; the regional representative of ONCE in Galicia, Manuel Martínez; the director of the Santiago de Compostela Agency, José Antonio Riveiro; and one of the ONCE sellers in the area, Abelardo Rendo, as well as other members of the event’s organising committee.

The Boqueixón councillor echoed this sentiment, highlighting that ‘this is the first time that the Filloa de Lestedo has been featured on one of the ONCE lottery tickets, which will allow us to spread the name of our municipality throughout the country. We are very grateful for this,’ he concluded.

Sensory tasting aimed at the group

Similarly, the councillor reminded attendees that tomorrow there will be a ‘show cooking session adapted’ to the ONCE group. The event will take place at 12 noon at the Lestedo social club, with around thirty people expected to attend. The session will be led by chef José Manuel Mallón (D’Antaño Foods & Service) and Charly Torres, a teacher at CIFP Compostela specialising in catering services. Attendees will be able to taste Filloas de Lestedo with different types of fillings, which will be paired with wines from the Rías Baixas D.O. subzone of Ribeira do Ulla (with a guided tasting).

For his part, Manuel Martínez highlighted ONCE’s interest in ‘showcasing the tradition and cultural heritage of our country’, with the sale of 5 million coupons bearing the image of the Fiesta da Filloa de Lestedo being ‘our contribution to promoting traditions and the unique gastronomy of our country, such as this one’.
