FESTA DA FILLOÍÑA

FESTA DA FILLOÍÑA

The Filloíña Festival is the most classic celebration of the carnival, within the programme of activities of the Filloa Festival. It takes place in Lestedo’s Campo de la Fiesta (fairground) on the weekend before the big day of the celebration, usually on Saturday.

In fact, this event, specially designed for the little ones, is a miniature version of the big day of the Filloa Festival. During the day, filloas are made with sweet fillings, there is a children’s proclamation given by schoolchildren from the municipal district and there are satirical displays featuring Generalitos and Generalitas del Ulla, boys and girls who are part of the group of the Generals. Precisely because of the age of the protagonists, these satirical displays are carried out on ponies, rather than on horseback.

At the event there are also performances by traditional music groups and popular games, but without a doubt, the main activity of the day is the costume contest. Every year about a hundred people from the municipal district meet and participate, after registration, in the individual or group category of the contest.

The event closes, at dusk, with the concerts of some of the main children’s music groups in Galicia, such as Uxía Lambona and Banda Molona, who participate in the 41st Filloíña Festival.

El evento se cierra, ya al anochecer, con los conciertos de algunos de los principales grupos de música infantil de Galicia como Uxía Lambona e a Banda Molona, que pasó por el palco de la Fiesta de la Filloíña durante la XLI edición.
